Most outdoor kitchen failures in the Tacoma area are not appliance failures — they are foundation failures. A built-in grill island weighs hundreds of pounds. Set it on a patio that was not engineered for that point load, and within a few seasons the masonry cracks, the doors stop closing square, and the counters tilt. We treat the kitchen as a hardscape problem first: the patio and the island base get an engineered, soil-tested foundation before a single block goes up.

The Pacific Northwest also changes what the kitchen is made of. We spec stainless components rated for marine-influenced humidity, sealed natural-stone or porcelain countertops that resist moss and staining, and weather-rated cabinetry — not the powder-coated steel that rusts within two winters near Puget Sound. Where you want to cook in November, we design a covered or pergola-protected zone with proper drainage so the cook is not standing in a puddle.

Everything runs through one design step before we build: a free ArcSite 3D rendering of the finished kitchen — counter runs, grill placement, seating, lighting, and the patio it sits on — so you approve the real layout, not a sketch.
