ARTIFICIAL TURF INSTALLATION IN TACOMA & PIERCE COUNTY
A Lawn That Drains in November and Stays Green in August.
A real lawn in Western Washington is mud half the year and dormant the other half. Artificial turf only beats that if the base underneath it drains as hard as it rains here. We build the base for Pierce County rainfall first — then lay turf that stays clean, level, and green.

Overview
Turf in the Pacific Northwest Is a Drainage Project Wearing Grass
The turf blades are the easy part. What separates a turf lawn that lasts from one that puddles, smells, and grows moss at the seams is the base — and in Pierce County, where the ground stays saturated for months, the base has to move a lot of water. We excavate, install a free-draining crushed-rock and decomposed-granite base, compact it in lifts, and grade it so water sheets off and infiltrates instead of sitting under the turf.
On clay-heavy lots — common across South Hill, parts of Lakewood, and the Tacoma flats — we add a perforated drain or a deeper aggregate layer so the saturated subsoil below does not back water up into the turf. For pet owners, we use an antimicrobial infill and a drainage layer sized for the rinse-through that keeps odor out. This is the same drainage-first engineering we put under a paver patio, applied to a lawn.
You get the same process as any other ND project: a free assessment of your soil and drainage, an honest read on whether turf or pavers is the right call for the space, transparent itemized pricing, and an in-house crew from excavation through final infill. No subcontractors, no surprise invoices.

Common Questions
Artificial Turf Installation FAQ
It does when the base is built for it. The turf backing is perforated, so the limiting factor is the base and the native soil below. We install a free-draining aggregate base and add perforated drainage on clay-heavy lots so water infiltrates instead of pooling. Drainage is the whole job here, not an afterthought.
